Shrek The Musical Is Heading To Australia
Yes, The MUSICAL.
Shrek is the best animated movie of all time.
Okay, maybe not THE best but definitely up there (The Lion King, Anastasia and Toy Story all have top spots too).
Because the world needs more grumpy Scottish ogres, Shrek was made into a Broadway musical (no, we’re not kidding).
Now the musical is headed to Australia.
The greenified production will open at the Sydney Lyric Theatre, The Star in early January 2020, followed by seasons at Her Majesty’s Theatre, Melbourne and the Lyric Theatre, Brisbane.
Shrek is going on tour- how good.
The production follows the same story we all grew up loving, laughing at and quoting (“I like that boulder, that’s a nice boulder”/“THE MUFFIN MAN?!!!?!”/“Better out than in I always say”/*insert favourite line here*):
In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre – not a handsome prince – shows up to rescue a feisty princess.
Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero.
If a real hero is an ogre with an onion obsession…
The musical features 19 songs and choreography to match and we’re super keen.
Mainly because watching a green dude dance around in a fat ogre suit will be hilarious. But also because Shrek is great and we don’t want to miss out on this.
Waitlist now to be the first in line to purchase tickets at ShrekTheMusical.com.au – tickets for the Sydney season will go on sale from 5 July with presales from 1 July.
