The Mistake You're Making In The Morning That's Completely Messing Up Your Day

Do you do this?

Waking up early in the morning is tough for most people. Unless you're one of those 'morning people', who probably leap out of bed and cartwheel out the door to work.

For the rest of us, getting up early is gross and difficult and calls for all kinds of complaints.

Boo Monsters Inc Tired

In saying that, however, it is a part of everyday life and we kind of just need to get on with it.

When it comes to kicking off your day there are two ways to approach an early morning.

One of these will get you on your way effectively, while the other will stuff you up royally.

Any guesses what we're referring to?

Oh yes, mate. It's your alarm.

If you're the kind of person who sets one alarm every day, hears it and gets up - be that with a positive 'tude or a desire to punch a wall - you are giving your body a clear message, and a level of consistency too.

As HuffPost reports, chances are that if you're waking up with the one alarm, you're starting your morning at the same time each day. This means your body gets a good idea of when you need to rest come nighttime.

On the other hand, if you're snoozing every 15 minutes for 45 minutes, you're sending mixed messages to your body. As Mindbodygreen shares, "any extra sleep you get is fragmented, making it low quality".

You're essentially telling your body to get ready to rest again, only to interrupt the process a few minutes in. This leaves you feeling gross and groggy for much of the day.

Additionally, the habit likely means you're getting up at varied times each day, which makes it harder for your body to find a routine and a regular bedtime.

So, if you're hoping to start your days feeling fresher and more like those 'morning people' you don't quite understand, your best bet is to set one alarm for the time you genuinely need to wake up and stick to it.

Sorry, folks.
