Taylor Swift’s New Album Might Be About Butterflies And We’re Freaking Out

Has she blossomed from her cocoon?!

Taylor Swift made a rare appearance at the iHeartRadio Music Awards this week, and fans are going crazy thinking that she has revealed clues about her upcoming album.

We’ve already discussed some conspiracy theories about TS7 (unfortunately her cryptic Instagram countdown didn’t lead to anything), but the latest one is that the theme will be butterflies.

Yep, even though Mariah Carey used the motif with her 1997 album Butterfly, now it might be Taylor Swift’s turn.

The reputation was filled with snakes and darkness, so maybe Taylor will burst through her cocoon and emerge as a butterfly in this new era!

Before the award show, Taylor posted a photo on Instagram in front of that white fence with a cryptic caption referring to the butterfly migration in Southern California.

Not long after, Taylor posted another photo of herself on a tennis court captioned only with the butterfly emoji. Suspicious? Definitely.

On the red carpet she rocked new pink hair, and wore a sequinned romper with shoes decorated with, you guessed it, BUTTERFLIES.

At the award show, Taylor won ‘Best Music Video’ for her song Delicate, and was presented with the iHeartRadio Tour of the Year award for her record-breaking Reputation Stadium Tour.

Just like last October at the American Music Awards where she teased “the next chapter”, Taylor teased fans with new music in her acceptance speech, saying that her fans “will be the first to know”.

Fans on Twitter immediately started hypothesising what to expect from Taylor’s upcoming album, including possible collaborations.

Until Taylor makes an official announcement about new music, we will all be sitting here like:
