Wild Weather Brings Chaos To Sydney Airport

Check your flights.

In case you hadn't noticed, it's raining in Sydney.

When there is wild weather, airport chaos is sure to follow.

Sydney Airport has asked passengers to check their flight times as  delays are expected due to intense storms and damaging winds.

Virgin Australia have tweeted saying that those travelling with them should keep an eye on flight updates.

Along with the rain in the CBD, there's snow in the outer suburbs. Residents of the Blue Mountains were left stranded as snow piled up on roads into the city.

News.com.au report more than 5cm of snow fell on a number of suburbs, including Blackheath, Katoomba and Mount Victoria.

Authorities warned commuters that roads have been closed and that the commute to Sydney was not possible.

The Bureau of Meteorology tells Nova Entertainment that the wet showers will continue to come through Sydney easing later this afternoon.

The BOM expected 20 - 40 mm across the region.

BOM also report strong winds and gusty thunderstorm about the coastal fringes this morning:

"The issue with that is that we can expect damaging winds and strong wind gusts coming overnight and tomorrow morning we could see really strong winds particularly close to the coast," BOM says.
