Multiple suspicious packages have reportedly been found across a number of international consulates across Melbourne.

According to The Guardian Australia, firefighters were responding to reports of hazardous materials discovered at the British Consulate-General on Collins Street, and within the vicinity of the US, Swiss, German Turkish, Italian, and Korean consulates.

The Victoria Emergency website listed 17 "hazardous material" warnings scattered across Melbourne where the consulates are located just before 1pm. All the warnings that have been responded to have since been updated as "under control".

Reporters outside the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea report seeing at least one hazmat suit-wearing person enter the building following the discovery of the suspicious packages.

Authorities have not confirmed any of the incidents. The Metropolitan Fire Brigade and the Australian Federal Police are reportedly attending the incidents but have yet to issue out a public statement.

AAP (via The Guardian Australia) reports that the staff at the Consulate-General of India were evacuated from the building and ordered not to talk to media.
