Instagram model attacked by sharks whilst posing for photo
Risk it for the gram?
There is a common saying around the social media world - "do it for the 'gram".
In other words, go further to get the best photo you can so more likes roll in.
But in this case, 19-year-old Katarina Zarutskie may have take it too far, like, way too far.
The Instagram model boasts over 24k followers and studies international business and nursing at the University of Miami.
Zarutskie went to the Bahamas with her boyfriend and his family last month and told Buzzfeed what happened when taking a particular shot.
She said she saw multiple people swimming around in the pool with the sharks and wanted to get a photo with them.
"Nurse sharks are calm creatures."
Adding she had seen Instagram photos of people swimming next to the animals "so many times before."
Her boyfriend's family was a bit skeptical, as expected.
The model leant her head back ready to pose for the photo when a shark swam up to her and bite her arm.
“I leaned back, and then that shark he came and he bit down on my arm and pulled me under."
Zarutskie remained extremely calm and lifted her arm out of the water to avoid the blood dripping and attracting other sharks.
When she got out of the water, she was very thankful when she saw that the shark had just bitten her on the arm.
"I am lucky to have my hand."
She still posted the picture, despite the bite.
