Sorry England, it's not coming home this time around.

England's dream of "bringing home" the World Cup has gone up in flames after they lost their nail-biting match against Croatia on Thursday morning.

The teams moved into extra time after holding a one-all draw for the first 90 minutes of the match (those goals were netted by England's Kieran Trippier in the 5th minute and Croatia's Ivan Perišić 68 minutes in) and in an historic move, Croatia broke the tie by scoring a second goal in the 109th minute of the match.

The winning goal was the latest one England has ever conceded in a World Cup match.

This is the first time Croatia has qualified for a World Cup final.

The Eastern European country will go up against France on Monday, July 16th at 1:00am AEST

Looks like the Simpsons wasn't exactly bang-on with its prediction this time!
