Melbourne commuter chaos this morning as Metro trains are suspended due to a derailing

Pandemonium on Melbourne’s railway this morning for peak hour, after a train was derailed.

Melbourne Metro has been brought to a halt, with buses replacing trains between Lilydale and Mooroolbark.

So what actually happened?

A freight train apparently derailed during the night, causing suspension of the Lilydale line.

Meanwhile, the Glen Waverley line is suspended between Darling and Burnley due to damaged level crossing equipment at Madden Grove, according to Metro.
