Warning: Do not open this email from Netflix

Another day, another scam.

A Netflix customer has taken to social media to urge people to beware of the latest email scam targeting Netflix users asking them for “updated payment information”.

Trevor Connolly from Dublin has urged people to ensure they check email addresses before following links in emails as it could be be a phishing scheme. And Netflix says they are very common.

Connolly received an email from ‘Natflix’ asking him to update his payment information. While there was an obvious spelling error, the email could look convincing to someone not paying much attention and it would probably catch a lot of people off guard.

He’s not the only one to receive such an email either, with Maïa Dunphy sharing an email she received that looked even more convincing:

A Netflix spokesperson has released a statement, saying:

"Phishing scams are, unfortunately, very common and often exploit well known brands. Internet users should always be cautious when they receive an email request any personal information or credit card details.

"If you get an email that looks suspiciously like a phishing attempt, please let us know by forwarding it to phishing [at] netflix [dot] com ."
