The Simpsons Facing Cancellation After 30 Years On Air

What will we do for gifs now?

We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like our fave gif fodder series aka The Simpsons, might be getting axed*.

Yeardley Smith (the voice of Lisa Simpson) spilled the beans to Hollywood Reporter, explaining that she expects Disney to "cancel" the show:

"When you're dealing with something that is still so culturally relevant, and sort of such a pillar of our culture..." she explained.

"If you're going to mess with that, that's some pretty risky territory. So my feeling is — and I could be completely wrong — is that they would cancel it before they would change it [creatively]."

The speculation comes after Disney and Fox merged, with Disney allegedly deciding to cancel any shows that don't fit its policy of family-oriented programming.

The Simpsons was, thankfully, green-lit for two more seasons before the merger went into effect so there will be at least a couple more years... but after that?

We're on shaky ground.

The only question that remains is, will it come back in pog form?

*Super sad, but was there a good season after ten?
