Serena Williams makes topless ‘I Touch Myself’ video for breast cancer awareness
We didn’t know Serena could sing!
Tennis legend Serena Williams has bared all for a touching new video to promote breast cancer awareness.
Appearing topless while singing the Divinyls hit ‘I Touch Myself’, the 23-time Grand Slam winner is the latest celebrity to perform the song in an effort to urge people to perform regular self-checks.
“Yes, this put me out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to do it because it’s an issue that affects all women of all colours, all around the world.
“Early detection is key – it saves so many lives. I just hope this helps to remind women of that.”
The video forms part of the ‘I Touch Myself Project’, launched in memory of the late Divinyls singer Chrissy Amphlett, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2013.
Serena told Channel Ten last week that she’s hoping to ‘move on’ from the polarising events that overshadowed her US Open final loss to Naomi Osaka last month.
She maintains that a male player would not have recieved the same treatment, saying that women couldn’t get away with ”even half of what a guy can do”:
"Right now we are not, as it's proven, in that same position. But that's neither here nor there.
“I’m just trying most of all to recover from that and move on."
