Selena Gomez announces break from social media

We’ll miss those IG stories tbh.

Selena Gomez – resident IT girl and everyone’s BFF – has announced she is taking another much-needed social media break and while we’ll miss her IG stories, we have to say, it sounds like she needs the time away.

Her last post, a positive-looking selfie, garnered over 6 million likes. She originally captioned the photo:

“Mood lol (I was looking at myself in the mirror - like an idiot!).”

However, she later went back to edit the caption, adding that she is taking a step back from social media to focus on her personal life:

"Update: taking a social media break. Again. As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given,” she wrote.

“Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember— negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings. Obvi."

The announcement comes just days after her resurgence on the social media platform including posting several photos, DMing triple-threat Jennifer Lopez and casually commenting on former co-star Timothee Chalamet’s post. So, normal.

In a previous IG story, the former Disney star spoke openly about her anxiety and depression, sharing a track by Christian singer Lauren Daigle in a refreshingly make-up free story saying:

“My song to all of you!”

"This is how much I love you! I’m not going anywhere!! I’m always here for you guys.”

Selena’s departure comes just days after Ariana Grande announced that she too would be taking some time away from the public eye. It comes on the heels of the sudden passing of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller and the subsequent media trolling that followed the young singer on her social media accounts.

"The public saw Channing and I in this idealised romanticised light."
