The New American Horror Story Theme Is Everything A Horror Fan Could Want

Think old school horror...

Horror fans get ready because Ryan Murphy is taking his American Horror Story back to the 1980s.

Season nine of the quirky series will be titled AHS 1984, and Ryan reveals it will be a throwback to 80s slasher movies such as Friday the 13th.

Fun fact: A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, and Gremlins were all released in theatres during 1984. Coincidence?

Along with the announcement, Murphy posted a video on Instagram that gives us some clues as to what the new season will deliver to our screens.

The incredible, dark and quirky teenager, Billie Eilish is the perfect fit for the soundtrack to the teaser. 'Six Feet Under' is played while a girl is running through the woods.

We then realise, like in all great horror films, she's being followed by a huge man with a knife and creepy AF mask.

Emma Roberts will return to the franchise for season nine and Olympic silver medalist freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy will portray her boyfriend.

Roberts' real-life ex Evan Peters, who has appeared in every season of AHS so far recently announced he won't be returning for the new run.

When asked about Season 9 by EXTRA, Evans said he was going to sit this one out:

Sarah Paulson, who has also appeared in all eight American Horror Story seasons, has yet to be confirmed for AHS 1984.

Time to pull out the old VHS tapes and brush up on some OG horror.
