She GoT her happy ending!

We were so excited when we found out that Mindy Kaling was creating a series based on Four Weddings and a Funeral and then when it was announced that Nathalie Emmanuel (AKA Game of Thrones‘ Missandei of Naath) would play the lead we were ecstatic.

After much anticipation, the first trailer has finally been released and it looks amazing.

Emmanuel stars as Maya – using an American accent – who reunites with three of her friends in London for a wedding. She then meets a handsome man (Nikesh Patel) at the airport, but she later meets him again when he’s introduced as her friend Ainsley’s (Rebecca Rittenhouse) boyfriend.

Andi MacDowell, who starred in the original, even makes an appearance!

Watch the trailer here and enjoy the many charming moments, including the phrase, “Ryan Gosling dipped in caramel.”

Fans were understandably very excited, sharing their thoughts on the trailer on Twitter:

One fan did raise a very good point, though. What would Greyworm think about all of this? After all, he is on a ship on his way to the Isle of Naath right now!

Mindy has spoken to Entertainment Weekly and revealed her show won’t follow the exact plot of the original film, but there will still be all of the events in the show’s title.

“I wanted to take the themes and the essence of the movie and apply it through my eyes of what I would like to see that I haven’t seen yet.”

She also added, “I know so many beautiful, funny, interesting African-American girls and so many handsome, hilarious British-Pakistani and British-Indian guys and I don’t think anyone would put them together if I’m not going to do it.”

Hell yes, Mindy! Love that.

Nathalie told the publication, “Let’s be honest, Four Weddings is one of the whitest movies ever. There weren’t many of us that you saw on screen in movies of that era.”

Nikesh added that playing Kash feels like “a celebration” of his South Asian background.

“It felt like something I didn’t know that I was missing until I had it,” he says.

“It’s the first opportunity that I’ve had to get my teeth into a love story set now that has this range, depth, journey and all these different flavours to it.”

The show will be on Hulu from July 31, so we’re just hoping Stan will pick up the series like they did with the new Veronica Mars episodes.
