"I'm absolutely gutted."

Spice Girls star Mel B has taken to Instagram to reveal she was rushed to hospital after suffering serious injuries following a fall down some stairs.

The star shared a snap of herself at the hospital wearing a large purple sling where she thanked the doctors, nurses and the surgeon who took care of her. She wrote:

"Thank you to all the wonderful nurses, [doctors] and my amazing surgeon for the care and expertise given to me here at the hospital I've been staying at, suffering 2 broken ribs and a severed right hand needing emergency care, to having... a 3 [hour] surgery to repair the damage hence the purple sling."

She added that she had to cancel her book signing in New York, apologising to those who bought a ticket to meet her:

"I'm absolutely gutted but I can assure you it WILL happen at a later date, I promise, but for now my right arm/hand is all stitched up and I'm trying to keep still to heal my broken ribs, ohhh the pain, but I'm in super safe hands with the care of everyone here at the hospital!"

She later shared a boomerang of herself with fellow Spice Girls Geri Horner, Emma Bunton and Melanie Chisholm.

Fans were quick to question the whereabouts of Victoria Beckham with one fan writing, "[Victoria] didn't care to show up... damn!"

Beckham isn't joining the group when they go on tour next year, however, she wished the ladies well with an Instagram post confirming she won't be performing.

She wrote:

"Today marks a special day for the girls as they announce the first tour dates since we performed together in 2012!

"I won't be joining my girls on stage again but being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish them so much love and fun as they go back on tour next year. I know they will put on an amazing show and the fantastic fans past and present are going to have a wonderful time!"
