This is devastating.

In a rare event, Jimmy Fallon’s monologue on The Tonight Show took an emotional turn on Monday when the television host paid tribute to his late mother Gloria.

In a touching speech, Fallon shared stories from his youth, thanked fans for their support and shared a message of love to his mother who was 68 when she died in early November.

The comedian cancelled a week’s worth of tapings for The Tonight Show to be with family after reports of the heartbreaking news broke.

“She was the best audience, she was the one I was always trying to make laugh,” he said.

In an incredibly intimate moment on the show, Fallon broke down while talking about the difficult time with his fans before telling his mother:

“Mum, I’ll never stop trying to make you laugh. I love you.”
