It’s a royal mess

Hubby to Victoria Beckham and proud dad of four (Brooklyn, 18, Romeo, 14, Cruz, 12, and Harper, six) David Beckham has reportedly landed himself and Fergie (Sarah Ferguson) in a bit of a bind because of a lavish birthday celebration thrown for little Harper, The Sun reports.

Beckham shared a number of photos to Instagram, showing Harper enjoying a “tea party” at Buckingham Palace. In the pics, we see Harper pose with Beckham, his mother, five friends and Princess Eugenie.

Allegedly, the celebration at Buckingham Palace was at the invitation of Fergie, who is said to have organised the event while The Queen and Prince Philip were away in Scotland, a source told The Sun

The insider told the publication:

“It’s very surprising Fergie would host a celebrity party at Buckingham Palace.

“The Queen and Prince Philip are away up in Scotland. He would never allow her to do something like this in the house when he was there — but the Queen still has a soft spot for her.

“I can’t remember an occasion when she actually hosted something at Buckingham Palace.

“So it’s an extraordinary situation, especially seeing there doesn’t appear to be a charity involved."

Seemingly aware of the immediate suspicion surrounding the lavish event, Beckham made a point to clarify the circumstances leading to their time spent at the palace with his last post to Instagram.

He wrote:

“One last picture of the birthday girl.... Just to be clear this wasn't the palace opening the gates for Harper's birthday party , this was a tea party where us and other guests were invited so it was a beautiful thing to do with My mum , Harper plus a few school friends... We were honored to be able to there... Beautiful tea party….”

Fans have shared mixed views about the celebration on social media:

“Cant wangle a knighthood so wangle a freebie. It was my grandsons birthday Sunday our invite must have got lost in the post #Lost #Respect,” one wrote.

“Don't explain yourself @davidbeckham you're an amazing dad and person,” argued another.

“Why is she having a party at Buckingham Palace??? Is that really necessary,” said a third.

This is not the first time Beckham has faced backlash for a post he has shared to Instagram of Harper. In early June, he was trolled for a photo that showed himself getting a kiss on the lips from his five-year-old daughter.
