Her mother claims she needs help.

Concerns for Britney Spears' mental health are back to an all time high after her mother Lynne said her daughter is in “dire straits”.

TMZ reports Lynne is going to court on Friday to ask a judge to allow her to be included in how the pop star’s affairs are managed.

According to reports, the '90s icon wants to take back some control over her life. Since Spears' breakdown in 2007, her father Jamie has full control over her financial and personal affairs.

Additionally, Spears has filed for a restraining order against her ex-manager, Sam Lutfi due to him causing her "severe mental trauma". According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, Lutfi's been firing off texts to Britney's mother and posting "disparaging and threatening comments" on social media.

It comes after news broke that Spears checked herself into a mental health facility in April amid reports from TMZ that the star is “distraught” over her dad’s illness.

Britney has since publicly commented on the situation surrounding her mental health, saying ‘things that are being said have just gotten out of control!!!'.

She posted a video message on Instagram to assure fans that ‘all is well’ and she just needs some time to deal with the stress and anxiety that her family is going through at the moment.

She ends the video by confirming she ‘will be back very soon’.

Her response came after rumours she is being held against her will by her family and management.

Britney posted a written message explaining that her family and team have received death threats due to the rumours; and urged fans not to ‘believe everything you read and hear’. Fake emails from her troubled ex-manager, Sam Lutfi have circulated fuelling the concerns around her wellbeing.
