Only two episodes had aired.

After its first two episodes seemingly bombed in the rating charts, it appears Channel Seven is bailing on their answer to Nine’s Australian Ninja Warrior, Australian Spartan.

The series, which saw contestants attempt to complete a challenging obstacle course as a group, was unable to win a large enough audience to keep its 7pm slot on Sunday afternoon, news.com.au reports.

As a result, MKR is being pushed into the prime time slot and Australian Spartan’s future position in Seven’s timetable is uncertain. Reportedly, the network is looking for a new day and time for the show, but that has not been decided on just yet.

Seven’s Director of Programming spoke with news.com.au about the decision, sharing that:

“Despite the best efforts of a great team on both sides of the camera, the show has not done the job it needed to do in its current timeslot.

“Australian Spartan will take a two-week break, before finding its new home in the prime-time schedule, in line with the kick off 2018 AFL season.

“The series will return with fifteen teams entering the Spartan arena to compete in the Finals Deciders shows leading to the ultimate test of endurance, strength and teamwork and $150,000 in prize money."
