Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh wants everyone to leave Pete Davidson 'alone'

"We should just all leave him alone."

The 2019 Golden Globes is shaping up to be quite the entertaining affair thanks to the genius hiring of Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg and Killing Eve star Sandra Oh as co-hosts.

Ahead of their big gig on January 6, the duo have taken time out of their schedules for a chat about their Golden Globe preparations with The Hollywood Reporter.

While there were there some great tidbits (such as Andy only saying yes to hosting because he thought Sandra was doing it and vice versa), their thoughts on social media and its effect on the whole drama surrounding Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson was particularly interesting.

Having been on SNL from 2005 to 2012, Andy is still closely linked to the hit variety show and he thinks that the show is still super funny in an age where social media dominates pop-culture.

He also talks a bit about Pete and has nothing but nice things to say about the current SNL cast member.

"I think they're doing a great job and still cranking out really funny stuff. Social media wasn't as big of a thing when I was on the show — I remember Twitter started while we were there because Ashton Kutcher was hosting...

"We did a sketch that ended up getting cut, but it was about Twitter 'cause that was the new thing, Twitter, that Ashton Kutcher is known for.

"And now it's such a given that everyone is on it all the time. Pete [Davidson] is hilarious, and the times I've interacted with him, he is such a sweet guy.

"But he's going through some personal stuff, and there's no way to live privately now. It's got to make it harder."

Sandra then offered up her thoughts on the matter, saying that everyone should just leave Pete alone and give him some space.

"We should just all leave him alone. I'm serious. Let's give people space, let's give people privacy, let's give them the ability to fail."

Andy and Sandra's support for Pete comes after the SNL member's worrying December Instagram post in which he wrote "I really don't want to be on this earth anymore."

Well you heard them, everyone, let's give Pete some space for himself. Heck, let's do that right now by familiarising ourselves with what antics we can expect from Andy and Sandra at this year's Golden Globes by rewatching their awesome little bit from last year's Emmys.
