Can Australia make it to the final with this year's Eurovision entry - X-Factor winner Dami Im?

Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst made the hotly anticipated announcement at the Sydney Opera House during her concert with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, before Dami herself appeared on stage.

The 27-year-old South Korean-born Australian singer and songwriter came to Australia when she was 9 years old, worked her way through classical piano to a Masters in Jazz Voice Performance, and went on to take out the big prize in the 2013 season of Australia's X-Factor.

"We love you Dami!" was the cry from the crowd as she lauched wholeheartedly into the Eurovision classic 'Waterloo' by Swedish superstars ABBA.

"I just want to say a huge thanks to Conchita for having me at her concert and also Guy (Sebastian) for being so supportive and encouraging — he will be a tough act to follow," Dami said.

"Watch out Sweden, the Aussies are coming."
